"Wow" what a great clinic this year. We enjoyed a great group of young ladies and their mothers this past March.
The association along with committee members dressed in the classic cowgirl style which was fun for all. The clinic was held at the Mid Plains Community College this year which allowed for an impressive clinic and each girl was able to receive individual instruction. Friday night began with getting to know each other with 2009 Miss Rodeo America, Meagan Ridley and Ms. Sally Haythorn speaking to the group. Saturday morning began very early with a scrumptious breakfast by the Buffalo Rodeo Committee. Sessions included Speech, Interviews, Appearance, Modeling, Makeup, Hair Design, Rodeo Knowledge, Hats & Boots, Photography, Sponsorship, Animal Rights, Rodeo Events and Mock Interviews. A session was held for Mothers and Pageant Directors. Great food was enjoyed thru out the weekend. With over 50 clinicians, helpers, and the opportunity to utilize the Mid Plains Community College, the 3 days was a great success. Saturday evening each young lady modeled as MRA, 2009, Meagan Ridley emceed the evening followed by an ice cream social. Sunday we travel just outside of North Platte to the Pawnee Springs Ranch and the indoor arena for a tasty breakfast and Church Services with AB Cox and Roger McGooden. The girls brought their horses and the morning sessions included Horsemanship Knowledge, Horsemanship, and Working the Arena. A delicious Beef Lunch was served by Steve Boeshart and family.

The 16th Annual Wild West Rodeo Queen Clinic was held in North Platte, Nebraska on March 8th & 9th, 2008 at Becky’s Hall of Celebrations.
The Clinic was hosted by the Miss Rodeo Nebraska Association and was to feature Miss Rodeo America 2007, Ashley Andrews, but due to the flu she was unable to attend. So all of the participants had the pleasure of spending time with our own 2007 Miss Rodeo Nebraska, Erin Robbins. She shared her past year with the girls and the knowledge she had gained. She presented appearance, knowledge, speech, interview and horsemanship to the girls and parents.
We also had guest clinicians Paul Cleveland, Brent Larraue, Ron Moorhead and Bill Redinger. The girls learned about Rodeo rules for each of the events, a stock contractor’s view of the Rodeo Queen and her responsibilities. The importance of horse care and the effects of the horse slaughter bill that passed last year and the effect it is having on the equine industry. Personal safety and why we all must be diligent and aware of every situation when we are out traveling to different locations.
We had a special visit from a Modeling agent in Omaha, Karla Maddux. She presented ten steps to making a good first impression and making it last.
We had 16 participants and quite a few parents. The pageant committee served the food again and that was delicious. Door prizes were handed out the last day and Jerry Hoff and his wife again gave each girl a keepsake photo for their participation.
Sunday morning Jan Deatrich came and shared her music and ministry with us. Thanks Jan it was very enjoyable and inspiring.

Members of the Miss Rodeo Nebraska Association present the clinic each year as a fund raiser - front row is former and current Nebraska queens! What fun they have!!

A big “THANK YOU” from the Clinic Committee to everyone who attended the 2008 Clinic and to all who assisted in any way!!

The 15th Annual Wild West Rodeo Queen Clinic was held in North Platte, Nebraska on March 10 & 11, 2007 at Becky’s Hall of Celebrations. Twenty-three girls and twelve mothers or coaches were registered for the Clinic. The main clinician for this year’s Clinic was Miss Rodeo America 2006, Amanda Jenkins, from Gilbert, Arizona. Other clinicians were: Dr. Ron Moorhead, equine veterinarian from Ogallala, Nebraska; Paul Cleveland, professional rodeo cowboy, rodeo judge and queen pageant judge (including the Miss Rodeo America pageant) from Keystone, Nebraska; Brent Larreau, rodeo cowboy and rodeo stock owner and contractor from Hershey, Nebraska; and Lori Bortner, Miss Rodeo Nebraska 2002 and Miss Rodeo America 2003. Local area people who coordinated informative sessions for the Clinic were: Bob Smeltzer and MRNA members Sally Haytorn-Mayden, Sherri Dodson, Pat Rice, Ashley Rice, Sharon Halligan, Tricia Schaffer, and Mardee Swanson. The MRNA Queen Pageant Committee served delicious breakfasts and lunches both days with the help of the Buffalo Bill Rodeo Committee, who served pancakes and sausages on Saturday morning. Marlene Smeltzer did a wonderful job of coordinating the Cowgirl Mercantile clothing swap which was attended by many-both shoppers and vendors.

A big “THANK YOU” from the Clinic Committee to everyone who attended the 2007 Clinic and to all who assisted in any way (including all of you who helped set up and/or tear down the clothing swap site and the clinic site and to Lindee and Miranda Dodson for the music on Sunday morning).

The 14th Annual Rodeo Queen Clinic was held in March in North Platte.
Twenty-six young ladies from 3 states attended the informative and educational rodeo queen’s clinic. Selena Ulch, Miss Rodeo America 2005 shared her experiences and gave instruction on the 3 main categories of competition. Here comes “the judge” was a mock interview with a panel of Nebraska’s best; MRNA members with years of experience judging national, state and local pageants. If you missed it – I’m sorry! A rodeo knowledge “Quiz Bowl” challenged each ones knowledge and a session on “Personal Safety and Precautions” gave them safety tips. 2006 goes down in the history books as a great success! Thank you to Peggy Moorhead, Clinic Chairman, the  committee and all the attendees, both girls and their Mom’s/coaches. Mark your calendar for March 10-11, 2007 and we’ll see ya’ at the 15th Annual Wild West Rodeo Queen Clinic!
